Young Innovator Aakarshan G.A. Verma on Balancing Innovation and Strategy: How GoLite Group is Shaping the Future of Technology and Employment

GoLite Group’s origin traces back to Aakarshan G.A. Verma, a prodigious 10-year-old with a passion for technology and space. Self-taught in programming, Aakarshan created WhatsNapp, a messaging app that, despite being a not-for-profit project, achieved over 6 million downloads. This success inspired him to establish GoLite Technologies, initially named ‘GO-Tech,’ but rebranded to ‘GoLite’ for its connotation of speed and efficiency. With his parents as legal directors due to his age, Aakarshan expanded into multiple industries and launched over 40 brands. Now, GoLite is focused on revolutionizing global education through innovative technology . He talked with Federal Bharat & highlighting his & company vision.

Q1. As the Young CEO of the GoLite Group, how do you balance innovation with practical business strategies?

The true definition of a CEO is to be an All – Rounder, whether in Strategy making, or in Innovation or other Landscape. I work on introducing new and new technologies plus employee and Globe – Friendly Policies. I started the ‘Team and Tech First’ Policy to maintain a balance between strategizing and innovation; then started the ‘20% Time Policy’ to allow each employee from different speciality to spend their daily one – fifth time in the work of other speciality. This is the way we get insights, ideas and strategies; Innovation is what we always do and strategies are what we get to know from this.

Q2. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while creating your first app, WhatsNapp, and how did you overcome them?

Creating WhatsNapp was a big challenge for me, as I spent a lot time in learning the programming by myself, I wasn’t mentored by an Industry Expert, and I didn’t have sufficient funds to Distribute and Market it. I had already planned to keep it a Not – for – Profit; I just closed my eyes and imagined it as a Take it or Leave It option. If I created this application and it did flop, then also the history could remember it as a part of my past in a positive way, and if it becomes a hit, then also the history will be marked. I then started working on it; wrote 30,000+ Lines of codes and made it a reality.

Q3. How has your experience as a self – taught programmer influenced your approach to leadership and innovation within the GoLite Group?

Being a Self – Taught Programmer adds a lot value into my entire journey and will be useful forever.According to me, getting training is never a bad option; but it can bound us in only the aspects and teachings which we are taught. Getting to know everything by myself, attracted me towards trying everything possible and making mistakes to get to know that what things work and what do not. I strongly believe that I have done this right, because if I was a small baby, who cannot walk on his own, instead of an expert, I would be trying to stand on my feet by myself, as the feet are mine, not of others; in the same way, the brain is mine, not of others…

Q4. Can you describe a specific project or initiative within the GoLite Group that exemplifies your vision for fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship?

Under GraphiCana, a GoLite Enterprise, we are implementing special Traceable ID Cards, IDs, and many more. Also, we have launched ‘Credit Guarantee Program’ for the Franchisees of GraphiCana, which has given A++ Response and our Franchisees are growing day by day, both in terms of number and revenue. We give the opportunity to each and every intern and employee to become a franchisee after a period of 3 months of employment / internship, so that we can fulfil our Mission to generate employment for one – third of the world’s population.

Q5. How do you stay motivated and focused on your goal of generating employment for one – third of the global population?

To sustain my confidence in achieving the mission of generating employment for one – third of the world by 2041 under Mission GoLite 2041, I focus on several key factors:

  1. Clear Vision and Purpose: I have a well – defined mission that aligns with the global need for sustainable employment. This purpose fuels my determination and gives me a clear direction.

By combining these factors, I sustain unwavering confidence in the mission, knowing that with dedication, strategic action, and collective effort, we can achieve this ambitious goal.

There are several points that I use to sustain a core innovative team:

  1. Starting the 20% Time Policy:Starting the 20% Time Policy is at the number 1 as the contributor strategy to maintain an innovation culture. This allows each employee to spend 20% time of their daily time to learn or work in another category, including ideologies, planning, strategies, suggestions, etc.
  2. Starting the Intern / Employee to Franchisee Policy:Letting our Interns and Employees (both Franchisees, Branches and Head Office) to get a Franchisee at the least costs as low as 5,000 Rs. has been a key contributor in maintaining innovation and allowing each and every individual to generate employment, revenue and contribute to the ‘Mission GoLite 2041’.
  3. Technology for All Categories: We involve technology in each and every category, whether for Innovation, R&D, Planning, Financials, Marketing, and even for the Cleaning, this helps us in analysing the different aspects of each and every industry in this world and get the solutions.

Encouraging Experimentation and Risk – Taking: I create a safe space for my team to experiment with new ideas without the fear of failure. We celebrate learning from

  1. mistakes, which fuels a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  2. Implementing Agile Methodologies: We adopt agile methodologies that allow the team to respond quickly to changes and pivot when necessary. This flexibility is crucial in a fast – paced tech landscape.
  3. Setting Ambitious but Achievable Goals: I set clear, challenging goals that push the team to innovate while providing the necessary resources and support to achieve them. This balance between ambition and realism keeps the team motivated and focused.
  4. Recognizing and Rewarding Innovation: I ensure that innovative ideas and successful implementations are recognized and rewarded. This not only boosts morale but also incentivizes continued creative thinking.
  5. Maintaining Open Communication Channels: Regular feedback and open communication are key. I make sure my team feels heard and valued, which fosters a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Q7. How do you evaluate and incorporate new technologies and trends into your business model to stay ahead of the curve?

To evaluate and incorporate new technologies and trends into my business model and stay ahead of the curve, I follow a structured approach:

  1. Continuous Market Research: I stay informed about emerging technologies and trends through continuous research, attending industry conferences, and engaging with thought leaders. This helps me identify innovations that could impact our business.
  2. Relevance and Impact Assessment: Before adopting any new technology, I evaluate its relevance to our core business and its potential impact. I consider factors like how it aligns with our strategic goals, the value it adds to our customers, and its long-term viability.
  3. Pilot Testing: We often implement pilot projects to test new technologies on a smaller scale. This allows us to assess their practicality, identify potential challenges, and measure the actual benefits before full-scale adoption.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: I involve teams from different departments in the evaluation process. This collaborative approach ensures that we consider various perspectives, from technical feasibility to customer experience and operational efficiency.
  5. Scalability and Integration: I assess how easily the new technology can be integrated into our existing systems and whether it can scale with our business as we grow. Technologies that offer flexibility and ease of integration are prioritized.
  6. Vendor and Partner Collaboration: We work closely with technology vendors and partners to understand the full potential of new solutions. Building strong relationships with these stakeholders helps us get the most out of new technologies.
